  • Cashew nuts: the 5th edition of JNEC-CI scheduled for February 14 to 16, 2024 in Abidjan to strengthen the sustainability of the sector 02/02/2024

    The Association of Cashew Exporters of Côte d'Ivoire (AEC-CI), is organizing the 5th edition of the National Days of Cashew Exporters of Côte d'Ivoire (JNEC-CI) from February 14 to 16, 2024 in Abidjan at the Radisson Blu hotel, around the theme: “sustainability of the cashew sector, a guarantee of competitiveness and growth of the Ivorian economy”, reports a press release sent to the AIP. According to the Commissioner General of JNEC-CI, N'Guettia Assouman, these days will allow national and international stakeholders to exchange ideas, methods and strategies, with a view to meeting the challenges of the sector and improving the quality of cashew nut. He specified that these days present major challenges for the cashew sector, particularly on an economic level with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 9%, the country's second largest export product in terms of volume and currency and the creation of least 5,000 jobs. At the financial level, these are legally constituted companies which operate in the cashew value chain either as cooperatives of producers, buyers, commercial export and processing companies. These companies position Côte d'Ivoire at the forefront in the global cashew industry. On a social level, the added value on JNEC-CI revenues will be partially reinvested in the construction of schools in a production zone. Remember that the AEC-CI has already built three schools in Tiémé and Sinématiali and Odienné. In addition to the central theme, five different sub-themes with specific objectives are developed, among others ''How to guarantee the competitiveness of African raw cashew nuts on the international market?'', ''Improving the quality of cashew nuts raw cashew, what contribution do actors in the value chain make?'' ''Support the performance of the cashew sector through a suitable financing system''. The 5th edition of the JNEC-CI recorded some innovations, notably an inaugural conference to present the challenges of the chosen theme, two B to B spaces, a raffle whose jackpot will be a new latest generation vehicle. More than 2,500 participants, more than 50 experts, 30 leading companies and several technical and financial partners including shipowners, spinning companies, quality control companies, insurance companies, banks and other financial establishments are expected. at this fifth edition of JNEC-CI.
